About TAG
The Theoretical Archaeology Group (TAG) has been debating archaeological theory since 1979. TAG was started by the Universities of Sheffield, Cambridge and Southampton in the UK and still holds a thriving and active conference every December at different sites in the UK.
In 2008 TAG-NYC marked the arrival of TAG in the USA. This meeting, held at Columbia University in New York was followed by TAG at Stanford University in 2009. Since then meetings have been held at Brown University, UC Berkeley, SUNY Buffalo, University of Chicago, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, NYU, the University of Colorado at Boulder, the University of Toronto, the University of Florida, Syracuse University and Stanford again in 2021.
TAG-USA runs in tandem with the British Tag meetings and with other TAG meetings elsewhere, including the Scandinavian offshoot, Nordic TAG, and TAG Turkey.
